Smoking brings acne
Daily Telegraph informs that dermatologists from San Gallicano institute in Rome discovered a new disease – smoker’s acne (another type of acne vulgaris). Follicles and pores are to be blocked and then people get blemishes, spots and simple acne. This experiment was held especially for woman who smoke, in order to make them quit – if nothing else helps.
Scientists took 1000 women aged from 25 to 50, all of them were smokers. 42% suffered from acne vulgaris - while only 10% among their non-smoker colleagues. It is necessary to note, that smoker’s acne differ from those of none-smokers. People who smoke have special not inflammatory type of acne. Careful research in this sphere has shown that the thing that causes such a problem is the lack of E vitamin – people who smoke have twice less of it than those who don’t.
People who had problems with their skin in early age will probably have 5 times bigger chances to suffer from acne in middle age if they smoke. Scientists even say that smoking is the main factor which causes acne appearance within category of people who have predisposition for acne. The most commonly affected zones are face and upper neck, also upper chest, back and shoulders.
Also scientists denied that quitting smoking causes appearance of acne vulgaris and have emphasized that smoking damages skin in many other ways too.
